i am sorry, i still like old fashion books. I hate reading stuff off of my ipod or anything like that. I like holding a book, writing all over it, highlighting, bookmarking, seeing how many pages till next chapter…. etc., i just hate reading from something that doesn’t feel like a book.
mltplprsonalty, I thinks Sony’s one is better. You can write all over it, highlight, bookmark, etc. Plus you don’t need additional light to read when it’s dark around.
It’s name is Sony 700 Reader
no, i just like a regular old book. I am sorry I have seen them but I like the smell, the feel of books not just the impression of one. it seems really dorky but i just can’t stand some of this technology that we come out with, are we seriously that lazy. I also like my collection of books, having them on display etc.,
we don’t care, and we don’t believe you actually read
I’ll wait until this technology gets better before I spend so much money on this.
it’s not only a matter of taste
this technology would help chopping less trees thus helping the environment
the real problem of this, is the high cost of the reader, instead
You can take that Kindle 2 and blow it out your ass..
I will never replace books, also not being able to to own the book and lend it to friends is a big minus.
Yeah, let’s just go back to being hunters and gatherers. Are we really that lazy that we don’t want to hunt our own food? I mean really?
Love it. I prefer books like most commenters here but I do this to save money in the long run. Currently I don’t even buy books, I download them and print at the office (lol)
is it backlit?
no black light. its a book page.
I got my K2 today and i love it…. it took me about an hour to get used to the flash between page turns, i guess its kinda the same as turning the page…
How do you like yours? Any tips or tricks you know of to help a newbie? – Thanks!:)
no backlight.
A word to Amazon, if you don’t make this product more friendly to visually impaired users, hence a backlight, then that read to me feature wont do anyone any good.
Apparently what you don’t understand is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to successfully put a back light on a e-ink display,in fact it just increases glare making even HARDER to read. Do your research next time you want to be an idiot.
I will stick with paper – thank you. With books once you buy a book it cannot be taken away from the company that ‘rents’ it to you. Trust me.
Can anyone tell me where I can order a Kindle 2 in the UK?.
@darthspeaks sorry to say this but this is the future with books and news pappers between cost of papper and shipment its a smart deal. i think ppl are more likely to join new york times ect cuz its only takes a sec to down load vs to have some guy chuck it out a van to just have a some one steal it. its gonna take some time for cost to go down but in time this is gonna save companys the hassle to get books new ect at your finger tips. there is only a plus side to this
Say what you wish – but a good paper book will never go out of style. I do NOT like the idea of material I PAID for stilling being controlled by someone else after I PAID for it. It is documented that they took away material after someone paid for it on these ‘wonderful’ machines. Export all the material in text format without having to ‘register’ it via the internet and it probably will be safe. The books they ‘took’ from thousands? The book 1984 and Animal Farm.
no backlight? lmfao
sick ting
It’s a piece of shit that tracks what you read and can – at any time – ERASE what you are reading. Fuck them.
its just another high tech gadget for someone to try to steal from u…save ur money
