How do I know what to look for in a laptop?
All I want to use is the internet and create music cds and maybe dvds. I don’t do all the things most people need one for, so I don’t want to spend a gazillion dollars for features I don’t need. Are these features sufficient in a VAIO I saw on line for 00?

The best advice I can give would be…
Check out " Consumer Reports" free online. Hope this helps
well it is certainly good for creating cds, but you won’t be able to create dvds unless you get a dvd-rw and not just a dvd-rom. everything else works perfectly for what you want to do with it.
Hi, I highly recommend the Acer Aspire line since it is a good value laptop with a great screen, DVD burner, built-in wireless and plenty of USB ports (plus some other stuff). There are various models at different price points to meet your budget and needs. I recommend visiting a Circuit City and similar retail outlets, or visit newegg.com (I heard they had a good deal on Acer Aspire recently, a friend of mine bought it.)
Just so you know, I have one and love it, my wife has one, my mom has one, and two friends of mine have bought them based (at least in part) on my recommendation. So far nobody has had a problem with them.
