Kindle 3G

The Kindle 3G is Amazon’s best selling product for the 2nd straight year and there is a big reason why. The Amazon Kindle is the best gift you can give an avid reader.

During the 15 months that I have owned my Kindle, I’ve seen more and more fellow Kindle 3G users on the trains and subways, coffee shops and diners. The trend is growing. Complete strangers stop me and ask questions about my Kindle because it is just such a neat piece of electronics.

Independent Kindle Reviews from Amazon’s website:Kindle 3G

“New Kindle leaves rivals farther back.” – New York Times

“Amazon’s newest Kindle is the best ebook-reading device on the market. It’s better than the Apple iPad, the Barnes & Noble Nook, the various Sony readers…” – Fast Company

“Battery life is long enough for space shuttle missions.” – Wired (In case you’re looking for that perfect gift for your favorite astronaut).

“What’s clear, however, is that if you’re looking for a standalone e-reader (i.e., a portable replacement for physical books), this is the go-to, standard-setting device.” – Engadget

“Its solid build quality, along with its improved design, integrated store, and cross-platform transportability… all add up to a winner that shoots to the head of the pack.” – PC World

“Simply put, it’s the best dedicated ebook reader you can buy… Amazon has managed to increase the contrast on the Kindle in a way that sets it above the Nook, Sony Readers, or any other dedicated ebook reader we’ve tested.” – PC MagazineKindle 3G

You can read the Kindle 3G in bright daylight which is something you’ll never be able to do with the iPad. The new E-ink Pearl display technology is really easy on the eyes. The device is the width of a pencil and easy to take with you everywhere. I find myself not suffering during waits in line or to pick up the kids because I can have 3,500 books with me at all times as long I bring my Amazon Kindle 3G along for the ride.

Amazon is also addressing the idea of book lending as Barnes & Noble has done with the Nook. According to Amazon:

Book Lending – Coming this Year
Later this year, we will be introducing lending for Kindle, a new feature that lets you loan your Kindle books to other Kindle or Kindle app users. Each book can be lent once, for a period of 14 days. Not all books will be available to lend – the publisher or rights holder determines which titles are enabled for lending.

There are also tons of free books available from Amazon to read on your Kindle 3G and you can send yourself pdf reports and white papers so you’re not stuck at the computer to read important papers for work.
