PCI > PCMCIA adapter for wireless aircard not working in my desktop?

I have bought a PCI > PCMCIA card reader for my desktop, so that I can use my laptop’s Verizon aircard for internet. The problem is that when I put it in any of the PCI slots (including the one that works with the ethernet plug in), windows won’t load. The desktop powers on and stays on the ‘Compaq’ screen. Any ideas?

It looks like an incompatability issue. Go to the Compaq download site and see if there is a BIOS upgrade. This may help if there has been an update that effects the way your PCI slots are interacting with different devices.
