Sony/Kindle e-book reader…?

I’ve got lots of .pdf e-books on my PC. Can I these to a Sony/Kindle e-book reader without hassle?
Will they display my files, or do they support only books downloaded via the wireless

Yes, both Sony Reader and the Kindle can read your own PDF.

For the Kindle 2, you need to send the PDF to your Kindle email, then copy the converted PDF to the Kindle 2. There is a review talking about this convert below. The new Kindle DX support PDF natively so you can skip the conversion step.

For sony reader, it works well with PDF. See the following review to know more:

Yep, but Sony do a better Job than Kindle.

Kindle’s PDF display is experimental, while Sony displays unencrypted PDF files.

Either way you have to do it to see which outcome satisfies you.

look at the format in this comparison for more details:http://freshtech.wordpress.com/2009/05/22/kindle-2-vs-sony-prs-505/

If you are not satisfy with what either device gives you then you can always convert to a format that’s compatible with either device.

look at bottom of this article for how to do it yourself: http://freshtech.wordpress.com/2009/06/11/nine-quick-paths-to-kindle-content/

The article focus on Kindle, but the conversion should work well for either device as long as it displays the format of choice.

Here’s how to do it for the Kindle via Amazon…http://freshtech.wordpress.com/2009/04/29/changes-to-sending-personal/

Notice you have a FREE choice and a PAID choice…you make the call.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, you can read on both sony reader and the Kindle. For the Kindle 1 or Kindle 2, you need to convert the PDFs to Kindle format first before you can read them on the Kindle. For the Kindle DX, however, PDF is natively supported so you can read on it without conversion.

For the sony reader, PDF are natively supported too. Read the reviews here and you’ll know much better:
