What is the best type of digital reader?
I’ve been trying to decide which type of e-reader to buy. I’ve considered the Sony reader, Kindle, and Nook. I would prefer one that has a touch screen and the options to buy books straight from the reader itself though these are not necessary requirements. I live in Ontario Canada so if it does include the internet feature, it must work in Canada. I hear the Sony book store does not have as many titles as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I looked at the Sony reader Daily Edition but I am unsure if the wireless works in Canada. The problem with the Kindle is that I can not physically test it to see if I like it. If I go with the Nook, will the prices all be in US dollars or is their a Canadian option? Also are you able to read with any of them at night or in the dark? Any help is appreciated.

Kindle!
i think kindle but if you now tall me to my blog

It is always the best to read some actual user opinions.
There are some very good actual user opinions here, for someone who has tried the Nook and the Kindle, you should get a much better idea after reading:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR3QUU7TO1GO5VV%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Dcm%5Fcr%5Frdp%5Fperm&tag=querystr-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

And in case you don’t know, Barnes & Noble reported a loss last quarter, while Amazon has a keep on increasing profit every year. It is clear that Amazon is much more stable financially. If, by chance, Barnes & Noble goes into any problem, there may no longer be support for the Nook. This is also one of the reasons why I choose the Kindle over the Nook.
Finally, below are links to the new Kindle 3.
Hope these help you decide.
Read actual books! Because, what if you run out of battery, will you just have to stop reading? With actual books, you can read for however long you want. And what if something goes wrong with the Kindle, like it breaks or something? With actual books, you can’t "break" a book, you can tear a page but you can just tape it back.
Books are meant to be read on paper, not a screen. That’s how it always has been until the invention of e-books which are silly. Don’t we people get enough screens and buttons in our lives? Why must we read books on screens, that’s like the only thing left that people read on paper. Hell, even newspapers are starting to go down because people read the news on their computers.
It doesn’t count to read a book on a screen and call yourself an avid reader. I think it would be sad to see books totally die out so please, can you help keep books alive by not buying an e-book? Please?

@ Cherry Bomb, though I’m a book lover, I get to disagree with you. The new Kindle can last for one month on a single charge, while many mobile phone (like iPhone) can last no more than one day. Is it really likely to get the Kindle out of battery?
And even though I love actual books, I’ve to accept the fact that ebook will become more and more popular because it is so much convenient, eco-friendly, and we can get dictionary, annotations, highlights, read aloud to us, all with a device without bringing another dictionary or pen or audio book. We can put thousands of favorite books in one, instead of bringing tiles of heavy books. It’s a trend, we need to accept and live with it, otherwise even ourselves with get sunk in the wave and get lost in the society.
I miss the past time when I write and send letter with paper, but now I accept and enjoy the convenience brought to me by email. I miss the days I listen to music from cassette, but now I accept to listen music in MP3. Does cassette company closed down? Yes if they do not do other things in demand to catch up the trend. So newspapers, magazines, even though people read things from internet, many news still come from newspapers’ website and if they are smart enough and do well, they can earn even more money from web advertisement on their website (you know this is the major income source of facebook). That’s the future trend, don’t pull people stay with you, everyone get to move
Here is another book die-hard lover, you can see how she says about the Kindle:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR9J54TZ1541OR%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=more_info-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
Ok, enough for these. So I love my Kindle very much. If you’re thinking about getting the Kindle, I’ll say get it instead of other ebook readers and you won’t regret. Right now I’ve read over 50 books with the Kindle, and I really like the idea that I can bring and store all the books with the handy device. Besides, it uses the e-ink technology, it is really clear like reading books; and even I read with the device for long hours, I don’t feel tired. The internet browsing comes handy as well when I want to look for information on some specific area. My only complaint is the white case, the Kindle is only sold in white at the time when I got it, but now the new Kindle has graphite case which looks much better
And there are some websites, where you can find more than a million of free books for the Kindle, so that’s why you no longer need to get to library, you can actually own these books:

If you need to read PDF with charts and graphics, you may want to go for the larger Kindle DX (both the new Kindle and the new Kindle DX are now at a cheaper price and with better contrast). Read this review and you should be able to decide which one to get:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FR23V08M2LNB81I%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ASIN%3DB0015TCML0%26nodeID%3D%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Fpr%255Fcmt&tag=more_info-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957
Hope this helps.
The Kindle is supported well in Canada. You can go to the sales page of the Kindle, click the link inside the box "Live Outside the U.S.?" on the right hand side, then choose your country. You’ll see how well the Kindle is supported in your country:

I don’t suggest you to go for any models with touch screen. It adds an extra layer to the original eInk screen of ebook reader, and will make the screen glare for reading.
BTW, Amazon just released a new Kindle and it is much better. I’ve given a detailed comparison between the Sony Reader, the Nook and the new Kindle, in another answer here (I’ve also mentioned where to get free books in the answer). Guess you’ll find interested:

And if you’re getting the Kindle, my advice for you is to place the order as soon as possible so to ensure it arrives to you early. The first batch has just sold out and the second batch now deliver on or before 8th Sept. When the second batch get out of stock, it may take another month for it to be back in stock, and you’ll have to wait much longer.
Hope it helps
