WiFi Smart Card Readers?
by E Book Reader on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 | 2 Comments
We are a construction company. Trying to implement a system to store our workers attendance timings. We plan to give a smart card for each worker and he/she uses it when they check in or check out. We want the smart readers to be wireless (wi fi). These wireless reader(s) automatically transfers the data to server.
Any good smart card readers available in the market? Please let me know. Appreciate all your help. Thanks.

WIFI time clock card? LOL! I could sit in the parking lot and punch in! There is no such thing. There ARE systems that work with passive cards that have antennas in them. You swipe the card, every card has an antenna cut to a certain frequency. I.E., every employees card is different.
I highly recommend against this. ESPECIALLY if any crucial company data will be present on the server.
Look up any of the news articles involving hackers and small companies, and you’ll notice a trend with WiFi.
It’s ridiculously easy to hack a WiFi system and obtain any information stored on the server. Especially from small businesses because 90% of the time their systems are not nearly as secure as they would like to believe.
